In these days of the internet you can get all the information you want on that family in Darfur which sends out its youngest member to fetch the daily water because she’s the one least likely to be raped. It’s an incredibly moving story, a tempting story to write, but it’s not my own. If I write it, it’s only journalism. For it to be art, it has to be written by someone from within.”
